also, is there a way to specify the sub issue as something other than 'research' or 'writing'?

Yeah that's what I was mentioning was odd about creating sub-tasks -- I've just been creating everything as top-level tasks.

Not sure why you can't assign these to yourself. I'll look at permissions.

Here's a screenshot for our rough sitemap. One big question came up for me while making this: What're the actual screens we'll need to support admin-ing the app. Once we nail down the 'admin' functional requirements, we can indentify the # of screens.
